THE MODEL J : Maynard Albertson's 40 Year Fashion

KONOCTI MOTOR CO. |
| DESIGN: |
“ “A 40-year work in progress” may have been a suitable subtitle for the story of Maynard Albertson’s ’30 Ford Tudor Sedan, although it would be slightly misleading, for Maynard and his crew at Konocti Motor Co. took only two short years to complete the Model A.”
“The story behind the Model J began two years ago when Jason Albert, general manager of Konocti Motor Co., found the sedan body in Visalia, California, and dragged it back to the Konocti shop. Maynard, a retired biologist and fellow automotive enthusiast, understood Jason’s passion and gave him full reign of the Konocti facility after hours to build the sedan. Jumping headfirst into the project, Jason whacked 5 inches out of the top, and with that, the build had officially began.” -Ryan Mason, Street Rodder Magazine

This issue of Super Rod takes a closer look at the massive amount of team work involved with the Unique Performance HHR build. Unique Performance had the upper hand with the final solution as the process of the build was dissected with the ultimate details. This issue also looks at the possibilities of the fifth generation Camaro concept. I looked at design elements of bringing a retro fifth dimension style with feelings of the infamous 69 Camaro, the New C5 Z06 Corvette, and the 04 Chevy Concept SS. Please let me know what you think of the concept! We want CHEVY to bring back the Camaro! To learn more about the build of the HHR please also visit Unique Performance online!

California Concepts :: Jerry Sanguinetti |
| DESIGN: |
Jerry Sanguinetti set out to design a nasty 1973 split bumper Camaro. California Concepts in Redwood City California is a aftermarket vehicle specialty shop that will head the build up of the car and will also have it in the paint booth within the facility. Jerry said he wanted it to be nasty and bold! The interior of the car was finished in a dark blue and is a full blown race car. We decided on doing a flames that set off the school bus yellow and complimented what we already had. The shapes take on forms that help the car look like its moving and also to give this short stocky stance a longer look. The licks are almost a scallop design, but the challenge was to design shapes that compliment the body lines of the Camaro. Jerry was really happy with the design and when I spoke with Jason Hardman of Buckaroo Communications, we thought it would make a great story. Jerry's excitement is why I love to do Illustration work, this one will look and sound really good!
